If you're wondering where all your council tax pounds are going take a look in the pockets of Surrey councils senior officers!
According to the
Statement of Accounts for 2009 -10, 23 of Surrey's senior officers are earning over £100K, this is 3 more than the 2008-09 financial year.
Amid the vigorous budget cuts proposed many of our county's top officer, they managed to budget in a pay rise for themselves!
One of the highest paid was Andrew Roberts, director for strategy and schools. He was paid £216,305 which included a £17, 524 Bonus. He has taken a 13% pay increase from 2008-09 financial year.
Overall the Surrey County Council Leadership Team (which includes just 10 of the 23 council employees paid over £100K) has taken a 23% pay rise (this equates to £268, 632)
Surrey council needs to save £180 million over the next 4 years, instead of cutting some of our vital services they might want to consider having a salary cap for its' officers.
