Television chef Jamie Oliver has set an autumn opening date for his latest restaurant in Guildford town centre. The sixth eatery of his Jamies Italian chain, which will replace a former bank on 13 Friary Street, will open its doors on October 5. It will serve fresh food made on site aimed at a wide range of consumers, alongside alcohol and live music.
Former Fifteen Foundation apprentice Dennis Duncanson has been appointed as head chef and the chain said it was still recruiting for staff at the new restaurant. Mr Oliver said: Guildford is a brilliant town and Ive visited it a couple of times now to see how the restaurant is coming along.
It will join the five other neighbourhood style restaurants in Oxford, Bath, Kingston, Brighton and Canary Wharf.
The menu will include recipes from the chefs range of recipe books, including freshly made pasta dishes. Oliver added: I wanted to create a local restaurant that is classy, reliable and inspired by what people want good tasty food".
