Cowboy Clampers to be Defeated by Councils

Parking control services are planned to merge in Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Tandridge, plus Epsom and Ewell to combat so called 'cowboy clampers' who prey on the those who sometimes make a mistake in where they park. The unfortunate parkers are then extorted large sums of money to get their cars unclamped.

Clamping laws are very ambiguous and criminals take advantage of this to make money, whilst still claiming to being within the law.

The four councils for these places are in talks to merge parking control services, in effort to save money and beat cowboys. Should the talks succeed the proposals will come into effect next April.
