More Grit for Surrey's Roads this Year

The enormous snowfall we have had for the previous two winters in Surrey has caused great amounts of havoc to the south east residents. Surrey County Council has faced strong criticism for not playing its part in anticipating and planning for the weather by gritting the roads sufficiently enough.
This year however, we can expect to see an extra 21 miles of roads gritted with 50% extra salt this year, making in 13,000 tons of the stuff.
Living in Surrey, I saw first hand the ineptitude of the driving in the snow/ice. Seeing cars wheel spinning to get out of driveways, sliding sideways into trees, skidding into curbs, and just generally being stuck in the middle of the road. Bambi has managed better on ice.
It looks like this coming winter we will fair at least lightly better. Lets hope the council fill the inevitable pot holes in the new year much better than this year.
