Surrey Cycle Events

Received 0 Comments

Following last Summer's heroics from British cyclists in the Tour de France and Olympics (the majority of road racing event took place in Surrey), there is a buzz about cycling in Surrey like never before.

Luckily for all Surrey-based cycling enthusiasts there are a couple of cycling events to get involved with. The routes for the 2013 Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 and Classic were announced earlier this month by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Surrey County Council Leader David Hodge and Olympic gold medalist Laura Trott.

The details for the two events, which both take place on 4 August 2013, are as follows:

London-Surrey 100- The event will begin at the Olympic Park, then follow a 100-mile route on closed roads through London into the Surrey countryside. It will be similar to the route taken by Olympian road cyclists last year- including tremendous hill climbs. Along with being good fun for cyclists of any standard, the event aims to be the largest charity fundraising event in the world. The route will finish on The Mall in Central London. The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 will start between 06:00 and 08:00 on Sunday 4 August 2013.

London-Surrey Classic- The Classic pits 150 of the world's top cyclists against each other, as they descend upon London's roads and Surrey's hills. Cycling fans will be given the unique opportunity to cheer their heroes on, as they take the route which is similar to the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Race. This year the race will be showcased to a bigger audience than ever before- it will be shown to audience on TV in the UK and abroad. The Prudential Ride London-Surrey Classic will start at 12:30 on Sunday 4 August 2013.

Whether you are cycling or supporting, there are lots of ways that you can get involved in the events- head over to the Prudential Ride London website for more information!
